If the media reports are to be believed, India’s man of the World Cup tournament is currently undergoing ‘chemotherapy’ in US.

The star all-rounder left for the treatment in US in last week of January. Reports said Yuvraj’s chemotherapy will continue till March.

In November last year, there were reports of the stylish cricketer from  “career-threatening illness,” and an “abnormal tumour” in his lung.

Yuvraj’s mother, Shabnam had announced that Yuvraj had a ‘non-malignant tumour’ in his lungs and that he had been battling it for long.

“Reports and scans then showed us that Yuvraj was dealing with something really serious. A golf-ball size lump was found over his left lung and doctors advised us to go in for more detailed scans. The initial reports suggested that Yuvraj had what in medical terms, is called a abnormal tumor called lymphoma over his left lung. The danger was, we were told, that it could be malignant. When he returned from England… detailed scanning, and biopsy reports indicated that the tumour is non-malignant and non-threatening and can be treated through proper medication and therapy. In medical terms, Yuvraj is now in a much better state and on his way to a full recovery,” Yuvraj’s mother Shabnam said in a statement.

But it has now been diagnosed as malignant.

Yuvraj has been troubled by health issues since the World Cup, which India won, and has played just one Test match in England after that.

According to the reports it was learned that Yuvraj Singh is seeking treatment with regards to a non malignant tumour found of his left lung. The Indian cricketer, who won the Man of the Tournament award during India’s World Cup triumph, had earlier voluntarily withdrawn himself from the Mumbai Test which ended on saturday.

His mother Shabnam released a statement today stating he had been having bouts of coughing and vomiting but ignored the problem thinking it to be a stress-related issue.

Yuvraj has been undergoing hard times right after the World Cup, which India won, and has not played much cricket after that. The Punjab batsman was also the Player of the Tournament in the quadrennial event.

Yuvraj had earlier asked selectors not to consider him for the upcoming West Indies ODIs so that he could sort out his health issues.

Later on Yuvraj tweeted “Overwhelmed with ur love n support. I am absolutely fine, just need to get match fitness and training, will be back soon,”

A man has slapped agriculture minister Sharad Pawar in the face, apparently to draw attention to rising food prices.

Sharad Pawar was talking to reporters at a political function Thursday when the man attacked him. TV news reports said the man was shouting slogans about rising food prices.

Television footage showed the man brandishing a knife as he was dragged away by security officialsand Pawar’s aides. CNN-IBN TV reported that he was detained by police

It, however, failed to set the best debut for the franchise as it fell short of “New Moon’s” $72.7 million opening-day gross. “Breaking Dawn’s” performance puts it in third place for the best opening ever, just below “New Moon” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2,” which earned $91.1 million on its opening day earlier this year.

Languishing in the shadow of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” was the animated film “Happy Feet Two,” the sequel to the 2006 hit. The penguin movie earned an estimated $5.9 million on Friday for a projected $22-million weekend.

Hangover star Bradley Cooper has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive 2011 – joining the illustrious ranks of Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon and a host of other A-listers who have taken home the prize.

In addition to his “dazzling baby blues and killer smile,” People magazine praised Cooper for his ability to cook, speak french fluently, and his closeness to his mom, Gloria.

Upon hearing of his newest accolade, Cooper’s first thought was, “‘My mother is going to be so happy,’” the mag quoted him as saying.

Bradley’s humility was another quality that added to his appeal, People said.

“I think it’s really cool that a guy who doesn’t look like a model can have this,” Cooper, 36, told the magazine. “I think I’m a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying.”

In addition to being humble, the Limitless star also is currently single.

After a split with Renee Zellweger in March, rumors have swirled about Bradley’s love life, including reports that he’s dating Jennifer Lopez, something he denies.

”[I’m a] single 36-year-old male,” Bradley told People. “If you’re a single man and you happen to be in this business, you’re deemed a player. But I don’t see myself as a ladies’ man.”

Do you remember Google’s self-driving cars? After they were revealed in 2009 many people began to speculate that Google had a secret lab somewhere to develop futuristic technology. A piece in the New York Times today confirms the existence of Google X. And even more intriguing, the NY Times piece gives a glimpse at some of the products we could see from Google in the future.

According to the NY Times, Google has about “100 shoot-for-the-stars ideas.” Most of those ideas are still in the concept phase, but Google has started working on a few. Here are some of the products that Google is working on.

• A refrigerator that is connected to the internet so that it can automatically order groceries when supplies run low.
• An elevator that can bring you into outer space.
• A robot that can go to work for you.
• A way of connecting items like your coffee maker, light bulbs, or garden planter, to the internet.
• 

A Google spokeswoman, Jill Hazelbaker, didn’t comment on the lab specifically, but did say that Google often invests in speculative projects. Haselbaker said:

“While the possibilities are incredibly exciting, please do keep in mind that the sums involved are very small by comparison to the investments we make in our core businesses.”

Investors might like the idea of Google X using money to build internet connected toasters, but Larry Page assured investors earlier this year that Google X ate up a very small percentage of Google’s money.

“There are a few small, speculative projects happening at any one time, but we are very careful stewards of shareholders’ money. We are not betting the farm on these.”

Google is worth billions of dollars. Hopefully a small percentage of that is enough to build an elevator to the moon.

He underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer in 2004, received a liver transplant in 2009 and took three medical leaves of absence as Apple’s chief executive before stepping down in August and turning over the helm to Timothy D. Cook, the chief operating officer.

India’s youngest-ever captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi lost his battle with a lung infection and passed away at a Delhi hospital today evening. Pataudi, who captained India in 40 of his 46 Tests is survived by his wife, yesteryear acting superstar Sharmila Tagore and three children, including film stars Saif and Soha Ali Khan.

“His condition has deteriorated since Wednesday and he is unable to maintain his oxygen level in spite of maximum treatment. He continues to remain in the ICU (intensive care unit),” news agency IANS quoted Neeraj Jain, senior consultant and chairman of pulmonolgy (chest medicine) at Sir Gangaram Hospital in central Delhi, as saying earlier today.

Son of Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, the last ruling Nawab of Bhopal who captained the country in 1946, the right-handed batsman made his debut for India at the age of 21 in a drawn match against England in New Delhi in 1961.

A star not just on field but off it too, Pataudi married the then reigning queen of Indian cinema Sharmila Tagore in 1969 and the glamorous couple had three children – Saif Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan.

Former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin‘s son Ayazuddin, died on Friday, five days after being critically injured in a road accident.

Confirming the nes, doctors at the Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad said Ayazuddin had sustained critical injuries after a high-end sports bike he was driving skidded off the road at Puppalguda on Outer Ring Road (ORR) here last Sunday.

Ayazuddin’s cousin, Ajmal-ur-Rahman (16) who was riding pillion, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Ayazuddin is the youngest of the two sons of Azharuddin from his first wife Naureen, whom he divorced to marry former actress Sangeeta Bijlani.

In a medical bulletin issued on Thursday evening, Apollo Hospitals (Central Region) CEO Dr K Hari Prasad said, “Brain function tests conducted on Ayazuddin indicate brain dysfunction. And his status remains critical.” (ANI)

Jobs has had a history of dealing with pancreatic cancer, but the Cupertino-based company declined to comment on the current state of his health. Immediately after he broke the news, Apple stock fell over 6.6 percent to $351 in after hours trading.

Jobs founded Apple with Steve Wozniak in April 1, 1976 and eight years later, the Macintosh computer was born. In 1985, Jobs left the firm after falling out with colleagues, only to return in 1996 and begin Apple’s transformation by launching the iMac. The rest is history.
